My Business and Personal Testimony .

My name is Donald Bartlett and I am one of the owners at The Backyard Builders & Roofing, located in Moncton, New Brunswick. I was in a business prior to this business in Nova Scotia and it was called My Sheds & Garages, I owned this business for 5 years and I have built over 90 sheds, 42 large garages, 98 metal and shingle projects. I had 15 full time employees, I had a crew building prefab exterior walls, I had a crew doing all the excavating and engineered concrete slabs, I had my uncle running dump trailer and picking up materials, and being a helper on jobs.

Everything was going along great, we were working on 3 garage builds, and 2 small home builds, at this time I brought in an investor and within one month all hell had broken loose.

To start my investor got in with my main builder and she took all the contracts out from under me without me knowing a thing until it was too late, then she collected on the last garage build completion, of $ 24,900, then she collected next draw from one of the home builds of $ 59,900, and left me holding the bag for the final payroll of $ 15,900. So I took every cent I had and paid the workers off to find out they all went with her and I was out in the cold simply as that. It gets better, so now I am on the brink of bankruptcy, and have 3 projects of my own uncompleted and deposits received from them and no more money in the business account, She went and started a whole new incorporated business when she took everything away from me.

It gets even worse, my 2017 gmc 3500 diesel truck, my tri axle dump trailer , all my equipment for doing concrete and building and roofing was all loaded onto my dump trailer and the thieves drove away from my shop with everything. Here comes the good part that makes matters even worse, I got $ 25,000 from insurance for the truck only and you guessed it was in my investors name so she got a cheque from Insurance.

So now I am totally broke, The rent for the shop is due, I have three unfinished projects and no workers or money to finish them.

I went to see my lawyer and she said claim bankrupt , and I said no because I am going to find a way to start my business over that I have been in for over 40 years and I am going to pay back these three clients I owed because projects were not finished. That was 2 years ago now, and that didn't go as planned as I was then sued in court by all three of them, and one has charged me with fraud that I am still fighting in court to this day.

After I lost the business I started to live out of my shop because I had no money and I stayed there in a deep depression with no hydro, no heat in the middle of winter for 4 months until the landlord kicked me out of the shop and my aunt and uncle came to rescue me.

So I went back on my disability pension and was in a state of depression for over 2 years now, and finally came out of depression, moved away from Nova Scotia, and starting my business up again now in New Brunswick, because people on line in Nova Scotia crucified me for not finishing those three contracts and made it that nobody would give me any work anymore and spread it online that I was a scam, a low life, a rip off, and made my life a living hell there in Nova Scotia.

I got ahold of all three people who have claims against me and told them I refused to go bankrupt, and I promised each of them that I would make it up to them and I am going to do just that.

I have an inheritance coming from my mother's estate making it possible to start my company brand new here in New Brunswick. I know in my heart I will succeed again because I have been doing building and roofing for over 40 years, I have been in business and self employed my whole life. of all the projects I have completed to date not one complaint of our workmanship, and that is because I only use the materials on the market, I demand quality from my workers, I pay my workers what they are worth to my company, I have been doing sales and marketing forever now and in the past I have completed 100's of contracts to date. I also have the best system in place for building and in place for roofing.

So now god willing I have business up and running now, I have clients coming on board to have services performed, I have a new young investor that will come in and be a working investor in the business. My main goal for this year is to be able to refund the three clients that I never finished their projects in Nova Scotia so I am able to move forward next year with a clean slate and made my amendments.

I am very honest and open transparent, I am very loyal to my clients, and I am up from the ashes out on the other side ready to take on the world again with god at my side of course.

I look forward to meeting new people here, and this time I am going to keep my eyes wide open and trust a lot less than I have in the past. I have been way up and I have been way down, and just got way more life experience this time around.

I am going to be taking video of every step of every project and putting it onto a youtube channel and making a show out of my business , for again transparency and to get monetized.
